STUDENT MINISTRY WORKSHOP
On July 25, 26, 27 student ministers from Brother Martin, Catholic High, St. Scholastica, and St. Stanislaus attended a workshop at St. Stanislaus in Bay St. Louis to learn skills that will be essential in their ministry at their schools. They attended sessions on communication skills, group dynamics, planning, bullying, grief, suicide, harassment, and various prayer experiences – each session providing these students ministers with practical and useful information.
The highlight of the workshop occurred on Monday night when the Brothers of the Sacred Heart Schools met to discuss the charism of the Brothers and the four archetypes of the mature male, a topic that has become the focus of the senior retreats – that is, the steps to achieving manhood. The workshop ended with a praise and worship service Tuesday night on the beach and a commissioning ceremony Wednesday morning in which each school was both blessed and commissioned to go forth and minister to the needs of their school community.
